About Priti

Priti is the Parliamentary Candidate for the ‘new’ Witham constituency. Significant boundary changes mean that Witham will be made up of wards from Braintree District, Colchester Borough and Maldon District at the next General Election.

Priti was born in London and was educated at a local secondary school in Watford. She went on to study at Keele University in Staffordshire, where she read Economics and then on to the University of Essex.

Priti’s home and early life has played a large part in forming her political beliefs. Her parents, have run a number of small businesses around the South East and the East of England and her family has always lived and worked by the strong traditions of self-help, the importance of family life and support of the local community.

Before embarking on a career in public affairs and communications, Priti worked in the Conservative Research Department and in 1998 became the Deputy Press Secretary to the then Leader of the Opposition, the Rt Hon William Hague MP. Since 2000, she has advised and represented a wide range of organisations on their business and communication strategies.

In the 2005 General Election, Priti was the Conservative Party candidate for Nottingham North and on November 20th 2006 Priti was selected as the Conservative candidate for the new Witham constituency.

Priti is married to Alex and outside of politics, they both enjoy horse racing, cricket and travelling.
