As a prospective candidate, I have the real privilege of regularly meeting with a range of charitable and voluntary organisations who provide all sorts of services and facilities that cannot necessarily be provided by the state. Today was no exception as I attend the opening of Brainwave’s new therapy Centre in Witham. Brainwave are a national charity dedicated to providing therapy for Children with Developmental Delay whether it is Cerebral Palsy, Genetic Disorder such as Downs Syndrome or Brain Injury through accident or birth trauma.

For the past 25 years Brainwave has given hundreds of children the opportunity to realise their potential beyond the expectation of their medical diagnosis through structured therapy which either compensates for the brain’s lost function or which helps to maximise the brain’s remaining functions. The new Centre will provide therapy for children from right across the South East of England – for an organisation that relies entirely upon charitable donations is a huge achievement.

Having seen the new Centre and having meet the incredible team of staff and volunteers at the Centre, Brainwave’s dedication and commitment to supporting those families who desperately need developmental support for their children is truly inspirational and worthy of all the support that they can get.
