I know that the Tory reshuffle is so yesterday’s news, but having worked with many members of our parliamentary party and Shadow Cabinet over the years, I’d like to say a few words to the new members of the Shadow Cabinet – ‘well done and good luck’. Being in opposition is a tough job and sometimes thankless. It requires grittiness and a type of thick skin you’d normally find on the backside of a rhino. While many people and media types have today passed comment on the suitability of the newer members of the team, its worth bearing in mind that they now have a huge responsibility to be a strong and effective voice for our country. I wish them well and look forward to the battle ahead.
